"Dream" Flytying Bench
« on: April 05, 2016, 01:23:52 PM »

I get the chance to start over and redo everything very soon.  I have a small, cramped, spidery place now so i'm looking to finally build a great functional and comfortable spot.

Anything you guys have ever thought of that if you were going to do it all over you wold absolutely need?  Minus hookers and blow.

I've always wanted my things out so I could see all the materials. I mean drawers and stuff is great, but being able to see all the materials that I have get inspired by etc.

Yup, peg board will be part of my new set up for sure.  I like that desk set up too.

I do too, but I'm thinking I want something work bench height. So I can either stand-up or use a stool type of thing.

I hate my work bench height tables.  It gets uncomfortable to sit in chair like a stool, even with a back like the one I have.

I get what you're saying, but an adjustable height stool would be perfect for me. I like the option to sit/stand.

Not sure if I would like the peg board set up or not.  I would like some more desktop space, but right now I have 99% of my materials in easy reach from the chair.  Granted the draw back is having to sort through to find the color I want.

So I kind of have two distinct sets of materials...lots of my stuff comes from god knows where (lots of my parrot feathers for example I get off ebay from breeders) so I try to keep that stuff away from other materials because of bugs (never had a real issue, but have had some minor stuff get messed up).  I also prep a lot of material after I get it...size sort it, etc...i'm also probably at the point of having like 2,000 hooks (  :help )

I'm going to set the new spot up with two dedicate spots...one for the classics, the other for standard stuff.  Going to do fly bins for completed fishing flies too.

I don't think that's big enough pegboard set up to hang all my stuff on.
My chair doubles as my rod wrapping chair which is bench height and tying is desk height. just updated my lighting with LEDs over the rod bench. One day this spring I need to give the area a deep cleaning, looks like a bomb went off

I'm with you, I have one small window right in front of me when tying, I'd love a big glass space with lots of natural light.... for when I am tying at 7:00pm in January.
