What about this....

Once we get the final number of participants, we all tie a fly that will go to creating a full box of flies for day of fishing for X type of fish...so for example, to keep it simple, a day of bass fishing.

The twist is, we do a draw to determine who and what type of fly to tie...so lets say we have 12 guys.  You could conceivably just split it up by the water column.  So topwater, subsurface, and a bottom scraping fly.  4 guys in each category...4 topwaters, 4 subsurface flies, 4 bottom dwellers.

You can tie whatever you fancy in that spectrum of flies.

We could obviously pick something like trout or stripers, or whatever, and add different categories for more variety, etc...but thought it might be fun to have a complete box.

That's because by the time the albies arrived - you had already used up your 4 trips for the year.

I like this idea too, Matt. Trout would probably be the fly type that everyone could use.

I'd love to tie something not bass related....so trout would be neat to do.

I really like the idea too.

I saw one fly swap where they did the entire lifecycle of the Mayfly, each person was responsible for it. (Yes they even did the eggs) I'm looking for the post. The guys did realistic tying though, so it was really cool to see it in a box.

Anyway, I'm down for it.

Should we start the sign up now?

Let's start the sign up now.

What: TROUT FISHING: This year, once we have the full list of those who want/forced to participate, we will randomly break it out into three groups. Surface, in the water, on the bottom. You will then tie 1 pattern for that. You can use any materials you want, it just has to be a surface fly for trout (if you got picked for Surface) Feel free to trade with people if you are uncomfortable tying a surface fly, or if you really know a great bottom fly you've been wanting to submit.

Curveball: Trout for anywhere in the world? Example: if you want/use/have seen used a Mouse pattern for Trout, so be it.

When: Sunday March 12th, 2017  from Noon until Matt kicks you out.
