I agree with Dennis, that the vendor booths were marginal, but it was good to catch up with some of the tiers. I also enjoy speaking with the business owners.

Scott Hunter of Vedavoo is moving his business from the basement to the old Steinway piano factory in Leominster. Main reason is to up his production (which is good the demand is there). The second reason is April, his wife, is about to have their second kid and they need to rearrange the house to make room for number two. Scott is looking forward to the new addition and business transition. I bought a Vedavoo bench basin (tired of all my clippings falling on the floor or materials into the trash bin). I also tried on the Watermaster Beast Sling Pack and placed an order for one today. Scott was telling me these were much more popular than he expected and is shipping them as fast as he can make them.

Ted Upton, co-founder of Cheeky Fishing, said that have 300 anglers in the Schoolie Tourney this year and it is now the largest fly fishing tournament in the world. Registration will close this coming week. After I was the beneficiary of the smallest fish last year in the tourney, he said they are planning on eliminating that part of the tourney and putting a minimum fish size for entry of your four. They want to encourage anglers to release the smallest fish quickly. After entering for the last 3 years, I'll be out of town this year celebrating my Dad's 90th with my family in NC that weekend. Will be getting some fishing in while we are there as well. Cheeky also introduced their new Limitless reel line which boasts a better sealed drag. Still a bit too $$ for my budget.

Mystic has a couple new switch rods but I didn't play with any having just bought the Redington from eBay.

I stuck around for the raffle. Spent $30 on the raffle and won a beautiful set of pint trout glasses from Karen Talbot. They retail for $120 so I got my raffle investment back.

Here are some pics from the show.

Pat Cohen and his amazing spun creations.

Scott Hunter of Vedavoo.

Raffle prize from Karen Talbot.

Love those pint glasses! I didn't know you got a calendar too. The retail I saw on her website was $125 for the set with the box. Nice score.

Ryan they will post the winning numbers this coming week. Some years it has taken until Friday but I think last year they got them up pretty quickly by comparison. Probably by Wednesday. Check the web page for the show-

Dean wins something every year...lucky bastard lol

Wish I could have made the show, been a few years, but it always falls on a day we are away some where.  I miss getting to see the tiers...always learn something new.

I do win something every year, but not from the Bear's Den raffle. In four years going, this is only the second raffle item won.
The only reason I win stuff is because I enter a lot of giveaways and a few raffles for good causes. The odds are much better than playing the lottery.

Nice write up Dean!  It was nice to hear about the Cheeky tourney, not the 300 entrants part, but the no small fish part.  Also enjoyed the shot of Val's booth.  I like her paintings a lot.  I met her through the NEKF site and have fished with her a number of times.  She's good people.

Dean "by" March 4th. They typically give themselves the week to get organized. Could be sooner. Last year it was.
