Vedavoo
« on: March 14, 2017, 09:24:42 AM »

So my Vedavoo package showed up yesterday... and I'm saying package because once I decided to place an order, it grew a bit.
Scott told me it would be a few weeks longer than normal since he was in the process of moving. In reality, it came faster than he said it normally takes, so I don't know.
I would definitely order another one offline if I had to, but I am glad I made the trek to Bears Den to see the colors in person. Not sure I would've picked these two colors if I hadn't seen them in person. It came out awesome though. My first thoughts, after opening the box was "holy shit, this isn't big enough". Then I took it out, and started stuffing fly boxes in, and its plenty big, its just a small package.
Looking over it, you can definitely tell its handmade. Its not messy, but you can see where the stitches may not be laser straight. It gives it character for sure. they sure as hell seem bullet proof. they are built tough for sure. Not cheap, not by a long shot, so I can see why they aren't for everyone. If you like the idea of supporting small business, and like the idea of made in america, and are willing to pay up for it, then its a great way to do it in my opinion. I looked at a bunch of different slings, I liked the Orvis one ok, and the Fishpond one was pretty awesome. Ultimately though, for a bunch of reasons the Vedavoo won over. Can't wait to try it out now.

Which pack did you get? My next pack is a Patagonia waterproof one for the kayak etc.  But considering a freshwater replacement

Post up a pic, Ryan. I'd love to see the colors you went with.

did you try it on? Can I ask why you want a sling for a kayak? Seems backwards. I can't stand to wear a PFD in my kayak because I don't want anything on my back when I am sitting. I can't imagine trying to wear a sling. Even a tiny one.

Not the sling in going to get the stormfront backpack.  I wouldn't wear out,  I'm strapping it down in the front.  This the waterproof.

My song is the orvis guide right now.  It's actually a little to big.

Why not just buy a cheap waterproof bag then if the idea isn't to wear it anyway?
I think I got 3 bags in a single pack, of varying sizes at Dicks for $20.

Sling pack, the utility belt (I wear a Greatful Dead climbing belt I got when I was 17 for my wading belt now, thought it was time to upgrade), and a beer holder.  :beer

Nice, Ryan. Like the TFO TFM patch added to the pack. That's the Seam pack, correct?

yes, its the seam pack... TFO?   Not on my pack, I am very anti-asian (surprised you didn't know that).
Its a TFM patch, proceeds go to PHW. I try to help them whenever I can.

Yes, I meant to say TFM... A Freudian slip on my part. I own an 8 wt TFO but have several TFM branded pieces of swag.
