Can you please not fish within 50 feet of me? You are in my drift.  Nevermind the fact everyone else is fishing 20 feet apart.  Or better yet, excuse me while I cast a fly at your feet from the other side of the river, completely casting over the holding water...

I hate when people back out of fishing trips.  (you know who you are  :invisible)

You have no idea how much it pains me! Some day you will have children and you will understand...You know I love fishing with you and we have a great time, but family is first.

My wife gives me shit because I NEVER buy new clothes...

Me last Sunday- "I need some new jeans and a new winter jacket"
Her- "So go buy it"
"I wish you would do it for me, I hate buying clothes"
Her-"You just spent $700 on ice fishing clothes, why can't you wear that? You had no problem shopping for them"

one more...on a reel that is 8/9 can I get something more than a little nub for a handle?  there's a chance I might catch something worthy of actually using the reel, and you got nothing to hold on to :lol
You say that until you get wrapped in the knuckles by one of those things.

I am a magnet for that sort of shit! There is river etiquette and it varies from river to river and season to season...I can understand when someone might be new to a river or the sport, but some people just take away form the whole experience.

good lord i hate tenkara.  thats a valid gripe.  weirdo guys with stupid rods.

my gripe - overheard at a fly fishing show type thingy a year ago:

slick rep from fly rod company x - "that rod?  she won the 4wt shootout last year.  she's a sweet sweet rod.  want to cast her?"

my minds eye: 2 four weights doing the ten step back to back walk down a dusty main street.  each turns, strips out line, false casts and fires at the other.  ala old west shoot out.

also, is that rod a girl?  really?

My biggest gripe is when I am fishing on the salt and I have boats following me around and casting on top of me. It happens ALL the time. Now, I just keep my tuna rod on the ready and if guys cast too close, I throw a heavy jig across their line put it in the rod holder, and punch it...if they don't act quick enough, I usually can get them spooled.

Definately a love hate relationship I have with that river.  Some day I need to travel to some of the less populated steelhead waters.  However, its amazing how a chrome steelies peeling line off the reel and leaping out of the water or fat +24 inch browns can counter act some of the negatives.

that gierach hasn't put out a book in a bit.  i could use some of that same old same old.  what i love about his books is that they effect me like hearing friends of mines fishing stories.  i can listen to the same fishing stories for a long time, and he comes across to me as a guy i wouldn't mind fishing with or having a whiskey with.

i admit that i'll pick up one of his books occasionally and just find the essay about the type of fish i want to hear about.  they're the same old same old but he hits the right notes with me.
