Is this a new thing? Extra ethanol in the gas or something?
Ethanol can wreak havoc on small engines and boat engines.

That's what I was wondering. Never owned a boat long enough to experience these, plus the gas was always held in a 5 gallon removable tank.

I bought one of these. Put some alligator clips on it. Attach 2 pieces of fuel line, pull off the line at the downstream side of the ball, attach the pump, hook it up to a battery and pump it all into 5 gallon cans. Then run it through your vehicles. everything except my wife's stupid fancy car that only takes high grade. let's not get me started about that. It works great, a couple of the old guys in marina saw it and went right out and bought one. Probably about 50 bucks for everything.

Nice Joebe - even better setup than what I was describing.  I will shop for one of those.

I normally drain all but about 5 gallons out of the tank, so me and my neighbors can have gas fights later

Well, with the carbs clean and about 770 lbs of guys in the small boat we got the performance below. That's right about what it should be. With only 2 of us in there the boat was turning 5200 and going 29 mph.  :eggscrambler That performance equals anything I was getting pre-gunge.

Yeah but I put more hours on my boat testing it yesterday than you put on yours the whole time you owned it.
