Suggestions
« on: December 18, 2017, 08:46:31 AM »

Looking to hit some water this week with my Dad. He finally took some time off. Any suggestions for an early morning trout session? Are ponds all frozen on the cape? Anything out of the Millers, Swift, etc.? PM me if you've been to a river recently.

Thanks.

I would suggest that if you opt to head towards the cape that you consider stopping at Long Pond in Plymouth en route or as part of your plan. Being 100ft deep it won't freeze as fast as other ponds. That and at the boat ramp access there is a small inlet to the left that dumps in from Little long pond the keeps water open around the ramp and that area can be very productive this time of year. Additionally if there is ice the fish will be active in the small open water left there. That said Peter's has been fishing very well lately. That would be my first choice if open. Park by the Sandwich recreation building. There is a cam on the pole there not sure if there is public access to view it.

There are two ramps on Peter's but the rec. building is by the ramp on the North end. Fishing has been good along the Eastern side.

thanks for the info. I remember that place. The last time I went to peters it was a shit show. It was iced over in january and I wasn't sure if we could park in the north because it looked like a private facility lot. I remember trying to drive into the construction site or whatever it was to the west.

Yes, you don't want to go through the sand pit. The access entrance looks like this...

that's what I remember.

Thanks Jeff. We figured we would go wet a line together before christmas weekend.

Any other suggestions are appreciated as well. Not looking for honey holes. Just looking to avoid the Swift.
