Material Swap
« on: May 30, 2013, 09:48:50 AM »

I'm in the process right now of re-arranging my tying space, and taking a little inventory etc...plan to put everything on the wall like a shop would instead of in drawers.

Well, last night i'm going through and organizing stuff...and I realized I have an incredible amount of rabbit strips and dubbing :lol  But I don't have a lot of things like flash, chenille, or even stuff like schlappen that I use a lot.

I think I have about 8 different varieties of rusty brown dubbing :lol

Anybody need any dubbing or rabbit strips (magnum zonker or cross cut)...maybe just keep this an open thread.  Anytime your looking for something?  Wouldn't cost much to mail materials back and forth.

Good idea!

I pinned this topic. I'm all set with Rabbit fur, but I do think I have some Schlappen feathers that I never use. Let me take a look, if I find them they are all yours. I'll post a picture of it first obviously.

I'm still looking for Chadwick's number 477 yarn... :invisible    :lol shit is like a hidden gem in the english fly tying world.

Matt, I really need some rusty dubbing...no joke.  I've got a black, a pearl and a dark green flashabou, and a silver and a dark green Krystal Flash.  I could trade a couple halves of those for a pack or two or dubbing...

I am now permanently in the market for hen capes and wet fly hackles.  Let me know what you've got, I will find something for it

let me take some pics tonight/tomorrow.

a lot of the dubbing I have is for wets/nymphs.  A lot from singlebarbed.com which the guy gives you enough in a single pack to last 100 years.

I have some unused simi-seal too...odd colors though

I have wet fly hackle also...its old school though.

Some came from the Orvis shop which used to be in wayland...price tag of like a dollar on it :lol  Its not brittle at all.  I think its what you might call gold badger?  Seems a little more orange though.  Also a small one that is a cream color.  Might be more streamer hackle...I dunno, clearly not my area of expertise :lol

Oooooo I could use some of the Simi-seal.

Simon... I think I might have a cape of hen hackle. It's a light brown color. Pics will be posted hopefully tonight.

On simi seal....I think I have a small bit of blood leech, two different black colors (one with green flash, the other purple/pink/blue flash)...and I have a nearly full pack of a baitfish mix, so silver, gold, gray/uv type mix.

Let me see what I have for those Schlappen feathers. I remember buying spey Schlappen, but they were pre-burnt (meaning the webbing was removed with bleach) in pink and blue and I think Black. I will see what I have. I'd love to get some simi to make up some of those leaches.

i'd be willing to package up all the simi seal...I made about 2 dozen leeches and haven't used a single one this year :lol

not a huge fan of the material in general...I hate the way you have to dub it on there.  I've been doing it lately with the split thread technique, but thats a pain in the nuts, especially after a couple beers :lol

Shit I forgot this... Let me get you a picture of those feathers I have. 99% sure they are bleached out Schlappen feathers.

Bringing back from the dead...

Does anyone have some really long black bucktail?  Like 3+ inch fibers?  I can never find anything decently long in black.

I'll check.. If not I can dye a tail for you... still waiting to see what I get from this deer season. so far none but I have a few reserves.
If I do it will be black dyed over natural unless I do you one and I can bleach it first.(helps to have a cosmetologist in the house)
